For many of us, there will come a time when we must part ways with an equine friend. No matter what the circumstances, Safe and Sound knows that you want your horse to go to a home where he will be loved, cared for, and appreciated. The sales process can be frustrating, difficult, and time consuming. Safe and Sound is here to take some of the burden off of the owner's shoulders.
Our consignment program is customized to each individual horse. Services for consignment include:
- Riding tune-ups
- Regular riding throughout sales process
- Equine Etiquette Courses for horses that need them
- Showing horses to prospective buyers
- Vetting prospective buyers
- Communicating with interested buyers
Horses who have been out to pasture or out of regular work will be given tuneups of an appropriate length relative to their current level of performance. All horses will be worked enough to be safe and simple to ride walk/trot/canter with good brakes and steering. Trails and jumping refreshers may be added for an additional fee. Horses may also be ridden throughout the sales process if the owner desires.
A horse who is easy to handle is easy to sell! Horses horses will be given that extra polish and poise they need in order to wow potential buyers and secure a wonderful, loving home. The easier a horse is to handle, the more likable they are, and safe, well mannered horses are worth more. A difficult to handle horse will have a harder time finding a great home, as many will pass him over in favor of a more polite mount. Give your friend the best chance of a wonderful new life! Send him to Safe and Sound!
Safe and Sound will meet with prospective buyers who wish to try out or view a horse. The horse will be ridden and demonstrate his manners for the buyer and the buyer may test ride the horse if they desire. Riders will be required to wear a helmet and sign an inherent risk waiver.
Interested buyers who get along well with the horse at the initial viewing will be required to fill out a questionnaire regarding their equine experience, intended use for the horse, etc. and asked to submit photos of where the horse will be kept. If the owner wishes, requirements for buyers may be made, such as: must have trainer, must be intermediate-advanced rider, must be of a certain age, must have x years of experience, must be show home, forever home only. Safe and Sound is dedicated to finding wonderful homes for wonderful horses. We want to work closely with buyers and sellers in order to find the perfect match. We will also help to write up contracts for sales and leases. Rest at ease knowing that your horse is going to a great new life!
